Why not an electric cat ?

I was reading a news article about the risks of gene manipulation, cloning and bioengineering today and as experts wieghed the pros and cons, a thought occured to me. I know, I know, all the arguements and back biting make this a rocky subject, on one side you have all the animal and human rights activists screaming about the harm genetics tampering does to our live stock and how hormones and steroids in our food supply are changing the course of human evolution. On the other side there is the science and industrial sector, claiming that they could solve global starvation problems and make humankind nearly immortal, what with the growing of plants that could live in any climate and of course replacement organs grown straight form your own DNA. I understand they all have their opinions but I think they have all really missed the big picture, Pokemon! I mean, this is a relatively new science we are dealing with here, I am sure the inventor of the wheel didn't ever think car, or the caveman who started the first fire think smelting furnace and I doubt that Alexander Graham Bell even considered the possibility of ever being yanked from his chair at suppertime by an annoyingly over exuberant telemarketer. This is the evolution of a new science, so I am officially throwing my hat into the Pokemon ring, with all the ways science can modify DNA I think it would be a mistake not to at least try to splice a wombat with a sea sponge, to make an extremely active, but not at all dangerous childrens pet. Who can really see the down side of a parrot/ferret or mabye a pit viper that can spit cotton candy? No one that's who. Mabye I am a visionary, mabye I just drink too much while I'm watching cartoons, who can say? In the future, however, when a dangerous psychopath breaks into you house and is nearly incinerated by a feline conducted 150,000 volt static electric charged death ray and you stand with your family while the cops tell you that he was out to kill your whole family to make a nice new set of matching lampshades, then I think you'll see were I am coming from.

Moew...ZAPPPP....Good kitty.
